Issuance of Licenses and Permits
Subject to the relevant provision of the Act, Tanzania Tobacco Board may issue the following licenses and permits to persons or company registered:.
- Field Green Leaf Tobacco Buying License
- Green Leaf Tobacco Import License
- Tobacco Processing License
- Dry Leaf Tobacco Buying License
- Dry Leaf Tobacco Selling License
- Tobacco Export License
- Tobacco Import Permit
- Tobacco Export Permit
How to apply for Licenses and Permits
A company or person who wishes to buy, sell, process, import or export tobacco is required to apply to the Board for a license or/and permit using an online system called Agricultural Trade Management Information System (ATMIS) through this link: ATMIS or by visiting the Board’s website and click on the link ATMIS.
Requirement to apply for Licenses and Permits
This license requires the following documents to apply:'
- The contract between farmers and buyer (Simple copy)
- Finance/Bank financial confirmation (original) ( Bank guarantee that a trader will be able to pay for tobacco)
- The contract between the buyer and processing factory (Simple copy)
- Price List
This license requires the following documents to apply:
- Certificate of Incorporation
- Valid Business License
- TIN Number Certificate
- Banker Reference
This license requires the following documents to apply:
- Certificate of Incorporation/Registration
- Valid Trading License
- Banker Reference
This license requires the following documents to apply:
- Directors / Partners and Share Holding of each Holder
- Valid Business License
- Industrial License
This permit requires the following documents to apply:
- Shipping Instructions for the consignment
- Dully signed/authorized packing statement
- Complete analysis of FOB cost structure of each grade for export
- Export invoice (copy)
This permit requires the following documents to apply:
- TIN Certificate
- Certificate of Incorporation
- Business Registration Certificate
- Trading License
- Bankers Reference
Circumstances under which the Board may refuse to issue a license
The Board may refuse to issue a license to an applicant who:-
- Has failed to show evidence of capacity to carry out a business relating to a license applied for;
- Is in the opinion of the Board, unable to comply with the provision of the Act and Regulations;
- Is indebted by the Board, a grower, buyer or processor; or
- Has failed to observe the terms and conditions relating the licenses issued to him in the previous season.
Suspension and Cancellation of License
- The Board may, for specified reasons made known to the holder of a license issued, suspend or cancel a license.
- A person / company, whose license has been suspended or cancelled by the Board, shall not transact any business to which the license relates during the period of such suspension or cancellation.
- As soon as the license holder rectifies the problem that necessitated the suspension of the license and after expiration of the sanction imposed, the Board shall lift the suspension.
